The Journey: Songs Along the Chai Way

This personal glimpse into the heart and soul of composer and performer, Bruce Benson, reflects his own journey along the path of Jewish music. Bruce has a gift for creating original melodies for traditional Hebrew texts as in R’tze and V’zot Hatorah, sometimes adding a touch of English to clarify the lyrics as in Candles and Shalom Song (Y’vorechecha). Combining talents with Cantor Richard Silverman, Bruce shares with us the memorable Ki Yishm’oon and Hariu, and a collaboration with Rabbi Don Rossoff results in the beautiful Adonai Li. The English Bat Mitzvah song 13 is a culmination of Bruce’s years guiding the steps of hundreds of Bar/Bat Mitzvah students down that path. Stones of Time identifies Bruce’s strong connection to the land of Israel. Both The Journey and the well known Somewhere Over The Rainbow reflect Bruce’s optimistic outlook on life. Mellower and a departure from the more rock oriented albums Bruce has previously produced, this is a recording that speaks to all of us, wherever we are along our own chai ways!

Wherever you are on your journey, this very personal album will touch you.
